Here’s where we stand at the moment:

Note: This decision may change and we may begin to enforce face coverings outside if any of the following occur:

 Again, as we return to playing, we have put together this short deck that outlines how we plan to keep everyone safe. This lays out what you can expect from us and what we expect from you so please give it a read here. This may change as needed.

Conclusion on Outdoor Masks:
With consideration of the new Executive Order
2020-175, 13. C of the Michigan Governor and her clarity on 9/9/2020 stating that masks are to be mandated for sports indoors and out;

Recognizing the inability to fully understand if an executive order is actually an enforceable law;

Recognizing also that our players are adults of sound mind who signed a waiver releasing SSC from harm, fully understand the risks of playing and coronavirus, and have stated that they can weigh their own risks to make decisions for themselves;

Taking into consideration that our summer leagues, accommodating over 2,040 people playing per week, further demonstrates that we can play safely outdoors without mandating face coverings;

Believing that face coverings should be worn and enforced indoors, but outdoors is a completely different environment;

Reminding that the SSC specifically chose not to offer indoor sports for the fall season knowing that we would require face coverings  indoors;

Fully believing that this new executive order was created exclusively to allow for high school sports to come back online;

Deeply convinced that this new executive order does not apply to our Club and was created specifically for the high school level and not the adult social level, professional level, or the college level;

Having recently heard that one of that Governor's clarifications is that, “non-contact, outdoor sports are not required to wear masks…”;

Reaffirming that none of the SSC sports are traditional ‘contact’ sports such as tackle football;

Taking into account there still continues to be more clarity coming from this executive order;

The Club strongly urges all players to wear face coverings if they can tolerate it because we believe it does help reduce the spread of the coronavirus, however at this time, because of the clauses stated above, we will not mandate or enforce face coverings for players who play outdoors, but we will require them for any indoor league.

All in all, our goal is to stay open, operational, and to continue to provide our players with fun, social sport leagues, played in the safest environment possible.  We hope and ask that our players understand that we are also human and trying our best to keep everyone safe and happy while abiding by the laws which govern us.  The Club walks a fine line on how to navigate these unchartered waters and like the weather, sometimes things are just out of our hands where in the future we may be forced to enforce certain laws to keep you and others safe.  Until then, mask up if you can and please be as safe as you can while playing sports with us.

We have decided to offer only outdoor leagues for this fall for everyone’s safety.  This is due to the pandemic, the rising infection numbers in Michigan, and the latest Governor’s executive order for mandated masks indoors.  We have secured indoor facilities and plan to offer them for our Holiday Season (November-December), contingent on how our State is managing the Coronavirus pandemic.   We are happy we can offer outdoor sports for our members, taking advantage of the beautiful Michigan weather!

Some even better news came from the Governor's address yesterday when she lifted the stay-at-home law and is now allowing groups up to 100 to congregate (see the video here).  With that said, we have a number of drop-in games schedule for you to register for, starting Monday, June 8th.  Further, our summer league registration still has some open spots, but are filling up fast, so be sure to get your team assembled and signed up.  As we return to playing, we have put together this short deck that outlines how we plan to keep everyone safe. This lays out what you can expect from us and what we expect from you so please give it a read here.    Cheers to a wonderful, disease-free summer of social sports!

Some good news came from the Governor's address last week as she laid out her 6-phased plan to get back to normal.  As of last week, she said we are currently in phase 3, nearing phase 4 by May 28th, thus extending the stay-at-home law until then.  As we understand it, we may be able to begin offering some activities as early as June with the goal of hitting phase 5 shortly after.  You can read more about her ‘Michigan Safe Start Plan’ here.

With this new knowledge and continued good news of virus suppression in Michigan, our target for starting leagues again is July 6th.  If we get the green flag to play even sooner, we will offer daily drop-in games on select sports so you and your team can get back to playing asap.  Of course, we will be continuing to follow and make decisions based on State and City guidelines for social interaction.

Registration for summer sports is now open!  We will notify you by email if we are able to also launch drop-in games prior to July. Rest assured that if you register, we guarantee full value for what you’ve paid.  This means if games are canceled due to additional State decisions, we will either reschedule your game or you will  be refunded for that lost game via a prorated site credit to your account that will never expire.   Please be sure you have opted into our email blasts to receive this and other valuable information.

Safety Measures

We have assembled a robust game plan for measures to protect you and our staff as we begin playing together again.  Here are some of the new adds/modifications/ideas on how we plan to potentially operate moving forward:

Thank you so much for your continued support and understanding as we work on keeping you safe during the big relaunch of our sports and outdoor fun. We can’t wait to see you on the field again and get some much needed fresh air and exercise.

The CDC now suggests that we make and wear cloth masks when out in public. They don't want us using N95 masks, reserving them for hospital staff. Because of this, Chris shows you how to turn your favorite game shirt into a cloth face mask with no sewing. This is, by no means, an N95 mask nor does it replace the safety of social distancing and quarantine, but if you must go out, it's better than nothing at all.  Further, it makes for a very stylish accessory. Oh, and you can now become an SSC ninja for Halloween too.
We look forward to getting back on the fields and playing as soon as it is safely possible. Until then, please remain quarantined as much as possible, stay safe, and stay healthy.

Here's the CDC's article on "Use Cloth Face Coverings to Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19".

Summer leagues' new start date is June 1st. Registration will remain open until May 20th.

 As a direct result of the COVID-19 outbreak and the extended restrictions implemented by the President’s order and our Governor’s ‘Stay at Home’ law through the month of April, the decision has been made to formally extend the start date of the Summer 1 - 2020 season to now be June 1st. You may refer to the online annual calendar to see the updated season start and end dates.  Understanding that some people may be holding off on registering for the moment, we will extend the registration deadline to May 20th.

From all of us here at your Sport & Social Club, we wish you all to be safe and healthy as we gear up to get everyone back playing again.

Spring leagues canceled, affected players to get fully reimbursed with site credits.

Due to the mandatory ‘Stay at Home’ law issued by our Michigan Governor this week and for our members’ safety, we have canceled the remaining spring season.  We want to ensure that the affected members have received a full credit for the season they were unable to play.

 For members who have not yet registered for the Summer season and wish to lock in their spot, registration remains open online and affected members can use these credits towards any new registrations at the time of check out.  If there are any delays for future seasons, members will receive full value in the form of season extensions or SSC credits.

 We appreciate your understanding during these unprecedented times. Your participation in leagues is what makes the SSC community so wonderful.  We look forward to getting everyone back in the game as soon as it is safely possible.

 We wish you and your friends/family/teammates all the best during this challenging time.

 Stay safe,

3/13/2020, 12:00pm

The Sport & Social Club has decided to postpone the next 3 games (3 weeks) for the safety of everyone in hope to help suppress the spread of the coronavirus. We will be working with our venues to get your games rescheduled with the goal of resuming April 6th.

The Sport & Social Club has always aimed to be the best part of your day by providing programs that are safe, fair, and fun for our community.  With that said and in light of the most recent information regarding COVID-19, we have decided to press pause on your next 3 games to help suppress the spread of this disease and to uphold our goal to keep you safe.

We will continue to monitor the situation and base all future decisions on the recommendations of the public health organizations in our regions and will continue to provide updates by email and to this page. You can also stay informed by regularly visiting and

While the situation is constantly evolving, we are hopeful that after this brief hiatus, we will be able to return to play and have as many games made up as possible.  While the status of your remaining games is unclear, we will provide all teams with an update regarding the potential completion of your season by April 3rd, if not sooner.

We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding while we work through the logistics associated with this situation. We respectfully ask that you hold off on any questions regarding potential make-up games/compensation until the picture becomes more clear on April 3rd.

While this is a difficult time for everyone, we know that sunny skies and brighter days are on the horizon and we are looking forward to getting back on the court/field so that we can all keep playing the sports that we love and help make our community great.

3/12/2020, 11:30pm

Per the Governor's address,  all schools in Michigan are closed as of Monday until April 6th.  We will be addressing how this will impact your leagues and will post an update in the morning.  Thank you again for all your support as we trek this uncharted territory together.

3/12/2020, 2:00pm

As the number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases identified has been growing worldwide and is now in Michigan, we want to assure you that your Sport & Social Club is keeping a close watch on its progress and impact.  We are taking the situation very seriously and anticipate that our approach may change as we learn additional information. We will be keeping you up to date regarding the status of SSC games and our procedures.

We are monitoring this situation on an hour to hour basis.

We want to ensure all of our members protect themselves against this illness. The CDC has assessed the public health risk associated with COVID-19 as critical for people 60+ years of age with underlying health issues.  Although the majority of our members are healthy and well below that threshold age of 60, we want to do our part to help prevent the spread of this illness while we do our best not to infringe on your ability to continue playing with us to help keep a sense of normalcy in your life (we understand that this is fine line).

As of this moment, SSC games are going ahead as scheduled, but we ask that all players adhere to the following expectations:

Understanding that attendance may be an issue for some teams, we have made the decision to relax our forfeit policy.  AS LONG AS YOU NOTIFY US IN ADVANCE SO WE CAN NOTIFY YOUR OPPOSING TEAM, no team will be subject to a forfeit loss if they are unable to field a team.  Scores instead will be recorded as a 0-0 tie.  If you do not notify and do not attend, you will still be subject to a default loss.

What SSC is doing:

·   At every location, our staff has a bleach disinfectant solution that they are using to clean all sporting equipment before and after game use.

·   We are also staying in close contact with our venues to ensure they have proper cleaning/disinfecting procedures in place

·   We are monitoring this situation on an hour by hour basis.  We will update you by email and on this webpage with any new updates and changes.

You can also stay informed by regularly visiting and

Again, we will continue to communicate any ongoing updates and changes, as they become available.

The Sport & Social Club exists because of the value and connections built through sport.  We do not want to lose this important part of our lives, but we want to be smart and safe as we continue to navigate this challenging and unprecedented situation together.
